Flea pesticide do not distinguish between people and fleas. They are dangerous to humans especially children. Before you use flea pesticide, consider natural methods first which are safer, especially during the early stages.
Steps to Getting Rid Of Fleas Naturally

1. Most people overlook vacuuming. Vacuum all carpets and furniture 2 times a week even if you don’t see a flea. By removing any eggs, larvae or adult insects, this is the safest way to keep flea populations under control. Remember to dispose of, or seal off the vacuum bag after you vacuum as adult fleas are hardy and can easily crawl back out.
2. Mix a home made flea remedy by mixing 3 cups diatomaceous earth (DE) for every 1/2 cups boric acid. Sprinkle the powder thoroughly over carpets and furniture. This works by dehydrating both the larvae and adults. Work the granules into the carpet with a brush. Use a mask to avoid breathing in the dust and vacuum after two days.
3. Use the fleas natural enemy to kill fleas. The beneficial nematode Steinernema carpocapsa are tiny parasitic worms that feed on and destroy flea larvae. Add them to your yard by using a spray. You can buy then at garden stores or online. Reapply a few times if the fleas return.
4. A useful trick against fleas is to burn a floating candle in a plate of water with some cleaning agent. Fleas will be attracted to the heat and will drown. This trick also works when putting the water under a lamp. Be careful with open flames.
p.s. the last time we had fleas, we kept a hammer handy to hammer the fleas. Yep, it was that bad. You can try Organic Insect Control as well, since they contain natural ingredients are usually less toxic.
